The Consulate General of Nigeria, Johannesburg wishes to inform the Nigerians who applied for passport renewal and have completed capturing of biometrics of the schedule below for passport collection:
Applicants with collection slips bearing “Pending 71”. Collection Date 21st October 2022.

Hi Admin, My name is Emmanuel Ekene Okere, I am a Nigerian, studying for a PhD in Electronic Engineering here at Stellenbosch University in South Africa.
I really need your help here, because I am in a very delicate passport predicament. My passport is expiring on 5th December 2022, that’s roughly 3 weeks from now. I already applied for a renewal, actually I applied since June 17, 2022. but I Cape town where I am resident, the data capturing had some issues I was told, so I had to come down to Johannesburg for another capturing.
My challenge now is that, I am not sure when the next badge of passport would be available. I also not sure, if I should leave the country, before my visa and passport expires (5th Dec. 2022) and then reapply for a renewal in Nigeria, how I am going to access the one I already applied for here by the Consulate office.
Please sir/ma, what can you advice that I do in this situation. Do I wait and hope for it to come out or I should begin making exit plans before my visa expires with the current passport? Is there a possibility for an emergency renewal avenue, where I can pay and get it done same day, so I can get the passport and apply for a visa renewal, my study, and even part-time job I do here at the University is on the line because of this passport situation. Help me please, I beg of you.

It is very sad and disheartening that we can not get our passport. My name is Mercy Udom. Please let me know how long more we will be incarcerated before we can get our passport. I have never experienced this type of a delay. I wrote to the consular general that my mother was very ill a d my attention was need back in Nigeria. That was over 3 mo ths ago. And I couldn’t go home. I am still waiting for passports to be released. This is very ugly treatment to the Nigerians living in South Africa.
I cried my eyes out. I resent this type of oppression. My mother is 84 years old.
I think we needed to have been I formed that we need to submit our passport for renewal one year prior to expiration.
When is batch 40 coming out why the too much delay

This is really sad and our government / consular should able to do better waiting on my passport for 4 months now batch 42/24 my bank account is blocked already and now my rental lease could not be renewed I’m at the edge of becoming a street kid (homeless)

Dear sir/ma, I wish to know exactly when is the passport renewal batch 8/25 going to be ready for collection? pls,save me from hunger by speeding up the process, I’m saying this because my whole life savings in my bank account has frozen due to this delay in passport renewal thing.
Frustrating us my struggle my sweat on my passport holding one back from other necessary applications going over 6 months now for my renewal batch 42/24 passport not out till now on till the whole consulate is burnt down with the consular inclusive then you know is no joke to play with other people’s future, you people are frustrating my life and the future of my family
please for how long will i have to wait for my passport to be collected? i have already missed my admission into the varsity and now another form is out for next year about to close as well. . It’s 7 months now, this is very pathetic.
what I don’t understand about this consulate it’s like Nigerias re just joke to them because how can someone capture for passport renewal biometric since 2024 Dec and its already June 2025 still yet no passport ones bank account is closed permit is expired every thing is a complete mess and still all because the consulate can’t issue a passport for over 6months this just sad to be called a Nigeria citizen
