GODWIN ADAKOLE ADAMA
HON. CONSUL GENERAL OF NIGERIA, JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA
A graduate of International Relations and Diplomacy, Godwin Adakole Adama is a Foreign Service Officer with over 30 years experience in the Foreign Service of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He has served in various capacities both in Nigeria and abroad, including diplomatic assignments in The Republic of Benin, Republic of Greece and the United Kingdom respectively. In the various Missions, he served on the Political, Economic/Commercial and Consular Desks.
Back in Headquarters, and between 2005 and 2008, Adama served as the Director/Special Assistant to the Hon. Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), an independent Anti-Corruption Agency in Nigeria. He also served on several committees, including Presidential Committees on All African Games and Christian Pilgrims Welfare Committee, among others.
Prior to his appointment as the Consul General in January 2017, Adama served at the Presidential Villa, State House, Abuja, as the Director of Protocol to His Excellency, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, immediate past Nigerian President, between February 2014 and May 2015. He continued in that capacity after the Inauguration of the current Administration of His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Adama is married to Comfort O. Adama and they have four (4) children, namely Victory, Samuel, Sarah and Abraham. Adama speaks English language and has a working knowledge of French. He listens to and enjoys gospel music.
